THANKS TO BACARDI BREEZERS
I went for a Party last weekend at my friend’s place, we all sat and chatted till past mid night sharing jokes, lighter moments & pulling each others.
Somewhere, out of the Blue, Arun who was high emotionally and alcoholically started the topic of Charity. I’m sharing you the jist of our 4 hrs discussions what we had:
Though, he is little confused or apprehensive but surely confident to start this without taking help of any organization, since he is not looking for any financial gains or recognisation.
Here is the final Ground Rules he made to make this work
- Quarterly Process
- Will start our locality only ( got around 2000 families)
- Will Go door to door over weekends (2 hrs) to request them to give clothes
- No Money will be taken, since he doesn’t want to be accountable or misunderstood by anyone.
- Since he stays in Service Officers sector, will request retired officers & friends to help make this cause more effective.
How does this sound to you guys? All I want real suggestions to help Arun make this more effective.

CaN I get drunk and then tell you what I think about this..?
Helping the poor and children is great; you make them happy that's priceless, even thu momentarily.
If every individual thinks and helps the people in need, there be left no ragged and clothless in the world anymore.
take care of their pride and in what name and way you deliver the clothes.

Shruti... Good idea... Nevrtheless.. thats what we do discuss chalk out plan give them a shape and unforrtunately forget it.....Important fact is executing it.... Over booze we have solved indian economic crisis... I am not bein a spoiler here but instead of making it Arun's vision ..... try to work on it...Any idea without execution is just passe.... Hope yu guys cling on it.... I as usual will do it.....:)
Great Good idea
all the best
hi shruti Thanks for commenting on my Blog :)
Can i be a part of Lioness club as well... I would love to work for children and old age people , I dont need any money in return. The only thing is that i can contribute only on saturday and sunday.
You guys are doing a great Job ..Must say :) I always wanted to be part/work for a NGO.
Bacardi can put all sorts of strange ideas in one's head. But this is a good one.
My only suggestion is that you make sure the recipients are treating with great dignity. Accepting charity is as difficult as offering it is fun.
Thanks for your visit to sometimes-2 and your good wishes. We had a great Vaisakhi. I'll be writing about it, I think.
hi dear friend,
It's a great idea to help the poor and the kids and the old. Whatever you do for them is wonderful. It really doesn't matter how to help them, what is important is just helping them.
Wish you the best.
Shahrzad
Thats great! Charity is a noble act.
However I believe in the quote Charity begins at home. If we practise being truly loving n caring to our loved-ones first, then the rest will fall in place automatically.
Keshi.
Great idea
gud luck
my standpnt is old ppl dont need clothes as much as they need compassiona dn someone to share their feelings... so this clothes idea is better suited for calamity struck ppl. old ppl need sm1 to hug them, to care for them and to read and laugh with them.
btw thnx for ur wishes..and hey bird, i got lotta clouds' pic for u..will post them later..cya tk cr
well........ darn good cause....
listen up.... u really need to tie with an NGO here.....
Else, get in touch with an old age home....
I dunno your location, but like my uncle in mUmbai he is into the same stuff..... he and aunt both work "Little sisters of teh poor" old age home.... its on Mahakali cave rd, Andheri(E)....
trust me, dat way perhaps you would be better off....
coz more dan clothes, money the old ppl in der need your love, care and affection... and for dat u have to go around once in a while.....
I still remember celebrating my cousin's first b'day der..... it was so good.... the fellas over der can b really jolly.....
oh btw, thnx 4 gng thru my blog!!
keep visiting!!
good presence of mind
hey buddy its great initiative taken by u all... So whn u finally starting and if u started than how successfull it is going on....
But a great work indeed.. All the best.
hey agreed that partnering an NGO would be like conceding defeat to him .. but that would be the best thing to do .. they would handle it more professionaly ..
But doing it urself and holding ur own would be a great achievement .. al teh best !
that sounds like great work :) Do let me know if I can pitch in somehow. Where are u guys operating? You should also check out Meenakshi. Her link is there on my blog. She does lot of stuff for the elderly.
thats really good thought..every one knew that...
but well i think it wont work going to door to door for clothes atleat in india..Here as far as i know here ppl will give their old clothes to that steel wala and take some steel utensil instead of .What say???
i think he must just go by his ownself and his own cirlce like u friends , relatives etc.,,,
Take Care
Vikas{V}
sounds noble and genuine.. good luck guys!!!
First of all, thanks for dropping by at my blog. May I also interest you to check out my travel blog, as you said, you love to travel.
You have a great blog. I have just seen the posts on the front page, and I liked what I saw :-)
Re this post: It is a very nice and constructive initiative. And I agree with the idea of helping the aged - personally, I never like give anything to beggars who are young enough to work, or to children; but I try to do my bit for the aged and needy.
For your drive, my simple suggestion would be to involve as many people as possible. Spread the word amongst your colleagues and friends. There are many people who cannot afford to participate actively but who would like to do something for the cause - so make it easy for them to contribute whatever they can.
Shruti,
Good initiative. :)
Not only clothes, they need lot more than that... The company.
I also do this kind of work but all alone. Sometimes I visit them just to be there to listen to them. And they feel happy and me too. :))
hi shruti-hwr u?
yeah i think i should add some more Valuable thoughts of mine(to torcher u all)ha ha.ok bye.gd dy.
gud idea... yo yo yo...
There are some lyrics that go:-
Who knows where the cold wind blows,
I ask my friends, but nobody knows,
Who am i to believe in love,
Oh Oh Love ain't know stranger....
Keshi got it right!
Thats such a great idea!
spending two hours a week sounds pretty good, another thing that i'd like to mention is the company also matters, when a tired mind speaks to somebody.. it works.
btw, thanks for visiting my blog, do come back! :)
Hello,
found you via another blog.
I love that you are thinking of othersand I love that you are a bird, because I am a fish.
:-D
Good luck with the phiolanthropic gesture.
thanx for the visit!
well i dunno, i have always wanted to do some charity stuff but never suceeded. duuno why.
but any kinda help given to such ppl is just a superb effort effort and an excellent deed.
sharad
Man... was that some good alcohol or what if it sparked this conversation? :P I believe in charity as well. But since I don't really have money to give out to the needy, I try to volunteer my services to community centers and hospitals. I think it should be something everyone should give a try. It can emit some kinda natural high too... if no one yells at you or poos on you during your shift :P
Charity is a good work! Clothes is good suggestion...also one can go to the old age home and help the elderly ppl :) I have done that many times in Canada!
A very good post I must say
Cheers
Its a good idea...but it only works if people stick to it...start off with providing clothing to old people...But if u can u guys can help out with organisations like the national association of the blind..I have tried it once...Makes u feel really good about urself!
It's an idea....but getting people to cooperate is gonna be an uphill task....Let's face it-people just don't trust each other! They suspect me you even more if you try to help someone help....
have a great week-end ^_^
hmmm
alcohol breeds philosophers... :)
Hey great thought & plan... hope everyone takes a cue from this and does their bit to help :)
wonderful idea... good luck in executing it
thanks for those lines for me shruti...its indeed a very very thoughful one..u knw wat its my dream to open up an old age home..just hope i can fulfill it...i wish u guys all the best!!just keep it going!!
i think its very practical and achievable..often that is the most important difference between an idea taking off or not...
anyway, brilliant blog..keep up the good work..
mNot taking money is the best part of the idea!
great thought n its a very noble cause...
but u all need to be passionate abt the same as i've seen ppl giving up after some time... this work may nt be easy for u all at the start but perseverance will surely make u succeed in this noble work...
all the best to Arun n his team...
really nice thought..bt i surely hope this just doesn't remain a mere thought bt u guys implement it too...( m nt being pessimistic or smthin)..the thing is a noble cause like this surely needs a nobler and a stronger dedication too...best wishes..lemme kno if u need ne help..
